Phenomenal Inday Jokes

November 26, 2007

It created an enormous wave that even toppled outdated Erap Jokes and Gloria’s “I’m sorry” tales.  Yep, Inday Jokes!

Sample Joke 1:

Consul: Why do you wanna go to the US?

Amo: To travel to visit friends and fly the airplane.

Consul: Denied!

Consul: And you?

Inday: For life is a never-ending pursuit of material and social satisfaction that I tender my great intent of actualizing a transpacific journey to the land of milk and honey. An affable sanctuary where dreams become reality and a perfect habitat where souls like mine can reach the pedestal of freedom.

Consul: Lifetime multiple entry VISA granted.

Amo: Whaaat?!!!

Sample Joke 2: Overnight, inaral ng amo ni Inday ang dictionary para may pangtapat na siya kay Inday:

Amo: so inday, tell me, how do you accept the fact that you are just a mere chaimbermaid in this extravagant mansion??

Inday: Una camarera? Eres tan pathetic. La unica razon que inscribi tu casa es porque nada esta sucediendo dentro de tu casa cuasi-agradable. Quisiera traer una poca clase en este hogar pero conjeturo que no puedo porque esta casa es fea.

Amo: What??!!(dumudugo na ilong / nose-bleeds)

If you are Pinoy and that did not illicit a smile or a guffaw from you, then I don’t know what will.  I got my first taste of Inday joke through SMS, then via email and the next from the airwaves.  From then on, I eagerly wait for Inday’s daily adventure and stories.   These days, Filipinos who love Inday are happily experiencing ‘nose-bleeds’. :)

Helpfulness

November 24, 2007

“It is one of the most beautiful compensations of this life
that you cannot sincerely try to help another without helping yourself.”

Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803-1882)

By helping yourself, you are helping humankind.
By helping humankind, you are helping yourself.
That’s the law of all spiritual progress.

Christopher Isherwood (1904-1986)

I have sought help on the appearance of my blog and I got answers from people who don’t know me but have given their time freely to solving my seemingly petty problem. I really feel grateful. At first, I feel reluctant seeking help because I think if I only had read or really delved into learning things I wouldn’t be into this predicament.

Anyway, i have been helped. The problem has been solved.

What made me write about this is the realization that the world still has a lot of good-hearted people who are ready to help; even those relatively unknown to them. While it is true that there are a lot of negative things written about the internet and the virtual world, we cannot deny the fact that there are pretty far more positive things that can be derived.

Thanks to all the people who are still there ready to do good and ready to help whenever they can to ease someone else’s problem. This kind of helpfulness is very evident in the wordpress community. Thanks WordPress!

Federer on the decline?

November 23, 2007

“I can’t do much when he drills that incredible forehand in the corner. I wish I had an excuse but I just lost the tiebreak in a bad way and never got the edge in the third set.” These were the words of 1st seed Roger Federer after being beaten by 11th seed Fernando Gonzalez.

“Nobody beats me 11 times in a row!” said the jubilant Chilean. That’s because he never won over Federer in ten prior encounters.Well, that was at the first round robin encounter of Federer in the ATP Master’s Cup in Shanghai.

After that, here was what he said after beating 2nd seed Rafael Nadal in the semifinal, “I’m happy to have proved myself, yet again. It was similar at the US Open. I was sort of struggling a little bit to get to the last 16 or quarters, and then I beat everybody in straight sets, Davydenko, Roddick and Djokovic. So here a similar thing… I’m exactly where I wanted to be. I got a shot at the title now so it’s a great feeling.”

And the end result:

ATP World No. 1 Roger Federer capped another breathtaking season with his fourth Tennis Masters Cup title in five years after defeating Spaniard David Ferrer 6-2, 6-3, 6-2 in the Shanghai final.

Time and again, I often go home early when a tennis tournament is being shown on cable. I am a great fan of Federer. But having defeated by Gonzales, I was afraid his decline is already beginning. Well that is life! We can not always say on top. I hope though that time will be lenient still with Federer so I can still watch the beautiful tennis that he plays.

FBS and CholesterolTests

November 22, 2007

There is a free FBS and Cholesterol Tests in the office this morning. There was an email announcement sent about this two weeks ago. I don’t normally keep track of these things unlike my very health-conscious officemates. Fortunately, I have not taken my breakfast yet and so I qualified for the Fasting Blood Sugar (FBS) Test.  It is my first time to undergo this test and it is only this morning that I get to know it requires an 8-hour fasting at least.

Off we went to the Clinic for the tests then.

My test results are as follows:

FBS Test : 70 mg/dl

Total Cholesterol Test: 167 mg/dl

According to the tester, my FBS and Total Cholesterol results are within the normal range.

Isn’t this something to be happy about? :)

Justine did it again!

November 12, 2007

Yahoo! Despite my very hectic schedule, at least, this is something i could be happy about. I hope it will sustain me  the whole week. :)

Justine Henin capped a career-best year in unbelievable fashion to beat Maria Sharapova in the final of the Sony Ericsson Championships.

Justine and Maria

Added to that is Whirlpool 6TH SENSE Player of the Year Award for 2007. What more could Justine ask for?

Justine was one of the ten top players short-listed for the award via an online competition organised by Whirlpool, Premier Sponsor of the Tour. The competition ran from September 3rd to October 15th with people visiting http://eurosport.yahoo.com/tennis/wta/index.html and www.whirlpool.eu to view the ten shots selected. Thousands of people across Europe participated, with 34% choosing Justine’s shot as the point that best reflected 6TH SENSE intuition – sharp intelligence, unbeatable performance and pinpoint precision. In second place was Maria Sharapova with Anna Chakvetadze in third.

Commenting on receiving the award for the second time, having won the inaugural award in 2005, Justine said: “It’s great to win the award again. Having been voted by people across all the whole of Europe makes it very special, even more so when you look at the other players and shots. I love the idea that individual shots are rewarded and remembered. 6TH SENSE, intuition and precision is very important for all of us as we are playing against great sportswomen every week and this was an inspiration when I recently launched my 6TH SENSE Tennis Academy, allowing me to share what I have learnt over the years.

Dino Olivetti from Whirlpool Europe commented: “Justine winning the award twice in three years demonstrates what a great player she is. We are very proud to hear that Justine has been inspired to name her new academy the 6th Sense Tennis Academy. It demonstrates that she places the same importance on 6TH SENSE, intuition and precision in her game as Whirlpool does with its innovation. It’s a delight to present the 6TH SENSE Award to Justine again.”

draining week

November 9, 2007

its Friday! had a very draining week; mentally and physically. i average less than 5 hours of sleep. all week long, i have this awful head ache. i don’t know what kept me standing.

works been too demanding lately. and I am afraid it would be more so next week. I have 8 technical workshops next week.  it would be brain-wracking and i am not looking forward to it. on the other, i would like it to be over and done with.

lazy

November 5, 2007

i didn’t report to work today. i wasn’t able to sleep. i wake up and i got this awful headache. i don’t know if its my eyes or its just sleep deprivation. i know i should be wearing glasses ages ago but i just can’t tolerate it. i don’t want the hassles of contacts also. arrrgggggggghhh!

good thing i have finished all my deliverables last week. otherwise i would be guilty of not going to work today. today is considered just an extended vacation then.

all soul’s day

November 2, 2007

today is november 2, all soul’s day. my mom and i visited the cemetery this morning. my siblings and the kids already went there yesterday to light candles and bring fresh flowers to our departed loved ones. this is a yearly tradition in the philippines that we adhere and religiously observe.

my dad died on the 1st day of december in the year 1983. i was 10yrs old and in grade 4 then. my father’s death is the reason we transferred from benguet to pangasinan. growing up without a father was really tough. my grandfather and grandmother on my father side were buried right beside where my father remains lie. Amang, my father’s mother only passed away last february at the age of 98. Apang went ahead of her by a decade or so. they both lived longer than my father who died at the age of only 45.

Anay and Atay, were my grandparents on my mother side. I was not yet born when Atay died. I only saw Anay when we visited Pangasinan as children and we lived close to her when we eventually transferred. She died at the age of 80 or so.

Mommy and I visited their their burial places, prayed and lighted candles for them. death is a part of life. whether there is life after death, reincarnation or whatever is there, i hope that they are all at peace. i hope they find the light.

enjoying a not so ordinary trip

November 1, 2007

my day began around midnight when i arrived at the five star bus terminal in pasay. five star buses in pasay carries passengers and tourists to northern provinces like Cabanatuan (Nueva Ecija), San Carlos City, Tayug, Dagupan City, Alaminos and Bolinao (Pangasinan). after getting out of the cab, i expectedly saw the swarm of travelers waiting for buses going to their respective destinations.  i began to walk to see the sign board of the buses but was stopped by several DOTC (Department of Transportation and Communication) volunteers for inspection. Security was tight, they scrutinized the content of my backpack. its not the ordinary inspection i am used to because they really had it opened and saw every nooks and crannies. They even asked what are the contents of several small plastic bags inside. I answered politely knowing they are just doing jobs. Normally, i would grudgingly answer because I don’t feel like being questioned and delayed. I rather feel I don’t look like a goon. such arrogance, hahaha! although i admit, i do have the stance of a street smart ruffian and have the gait and walk of one.   i can’t change my rather purposeful fast stride and unfeminine walk.  a woman is more than the walk. get that! :) )

anyway, i asked the several passengers where they are heading and if they are following a line or queue. i also inquired from several guards who appeared not successful in organizing and disciplining the throng. there was no visible beginning and end of the queue they told me to line on. i can’t trust their answers because i only saw chaos. the travellers i have randomly asked were all going to either alaminos or bolinao. i therefore concluded that i have a lot of competition. they’ve been waiting several hours and being head-strong by not queuing and just hopping when the bus arrives would be unfair to them.  i decided to take an alternative route when i saw two buses with Dagupan sign boards. i’ll just take two short trips. One was almost full except for the last two vacant seats at the end and one just being filled up. I hopped to the second bus and seated myself several rows away from the door. i settled then and waited for it to depart. my destination is Siesta, the stop-over in Tarlac City.

the bus reached siesta around 2:30am. i got down and immediately surveyed the signboards of the stationed buses. i only saw one going to alaminos. its a Victory Liner with bus number 1991. i entered the bus and asked the passengers who did not left to relieve themselves, buy coffee or something or exercise or stretch after several hours of traveling. i got the impression the bus is full and the chance i could get a seat was very small. i got negative answers from the passengers inside and when i go down, i saw a lot of competitors waiting for a ride also. it became apparent that several of us have the same line of thinking, i.e., to travel two short cuts.

when the driver and the bus conductor hopped in, we were informed that all seats are occupied. okeydokey,  i was willing to stand on the aisle if need be anyway. we were then ushered and there i discovered i was the only gal standing, hehehe. i was ready for that and i don’t expect to be treated differently. the bus was playing videoke and there standing from 2:45am up to Mayantoc in Tarlac, i stood singing silently and going with the music. from James Ingram’s “Baby Come To Me” to April Boy Regino’s “Di ko kayang Tanggapin“, i enjoyed the travel. i arrived a little past 4am in our house. lea, my sister opened the gate and door for me. she’s awake watching her 2-yr old boy, Xi, drink his milk.

i slept a little and woke 3 hours later to several children waiting for me to open my eyes. they wanted to watch ICE AGE 2. i don’t know what’s with this movie? they have seen this movie several times (i believe more than a dozen times and i am not kidding). they have even memorized the lines. and hear me, you can’t say they don’t have a lot of DVDs to choose movies from. they have supplies of it. they just love that acorn-carrying animal in the movie.

after watching Ice Age 2 they went outside the house. i followed after having stuffed my growling stomach. our house has several hundred square meters surrounding it. enough room for several hammocks strewn in between trees that are abundantly spread. my nephews and nieces each have a stake to one and each of them have grown used to the rhythmic swinging of these assemblies. i chose one hammock and stayed there watching the children play. up ahead in my chosen hammock is a picture i have taken of tree leaves.

tree leaves up from my hammock

several meters from my vantage point, Ayn and Xi were playing with dirt. i am the caregiver and i allowed them to be with the elements after having read about what the body may benefit from dirt and to the well-being as a whole. i watched them happily and contentedly playing.

these kids do not lack toys and books. one thing that makes me happy about seeing them growing up is the thought that they are happy with the simple things. they get to play with their own live and crawling turtle; they are at home with seeing farm animals. they can play with cats and dogs. catch butterflies, dragonflies and they can search plants and trees for spiders, etc. their playground is surrounded by nature and all the curious things they see and can experiment on. i hope they grow up as appreciative of the blessings of growing up in the natural environment.
